My Process

All the 'ings'

Below is an outline of my process for writing projects. I have a similar process for non-copywriting jobs such as creative direction projects. It's not set in stone, and we won't need all the steps for smaller projects, but you get the idea.

Meeting

Let's meet electronically first.

Tell me about your business and what help you're looking for.

 Briefing

We'll have a chat to say hi. 

This will help me to understand what you need in more detail. 

​

Estimating

I'll send you an estimate for the job.

​

Advancing

You'll accept the estimate and we can move to the next stage.

​

Deep diving

We'll have a comprehensive booking-in consultation.

You may choose to involve other team members at this stage.

I will ask a LOT more questions and we'll start to get to know each other.

Scoping

 I'll summarise our consultation in writing and double-check

that we're clear on both sides regarding needs and expectations.

​

Quoting

I'll send you one definitive, transparent quote.

I guarantee there will be no nasty surprises later.

The fee will specify how many rounds of revisions you'll get,

and the cost of further revisions if needed.

​

Commissioning

You'll accept the quote and the project will officially be underway.

​

Info-Providing

You'll provide me with any materials/assets I may need.

(For example, details of your website, social media handles, any brand work you've already done, images in the specified format, etc.).

*Don't worry, not all clients will have the above.

​

Writing

I'll write a polished first draft.

You'll review it and I'll incorporate any subsequent revisions.

​

Delivering

The final copy will be completed and I will send it to you. 

​

Celebrating

Everyone will be very happy.

Me, because I've gained a superb new client.

You, because you've found a quality writer you enjoy working with!
